Minister of Christian Education:

Rev. Cheryl Taylor

Rev. Cheryl Taylor is an Ordained Local Deacon in the AME Church.  She holds a Masters’ degree in Business from Ashland University and attends Trinity Seminary seeking a Masters’ degree in Religious Studies.


Rev. Taylor has served in corporate America for over 25 years and is a Vice President and manager at a major local bank.  Her passion and calling is teaching, counseling and equipping the saints of God for ministry.  She currently serves St. John in the following ministries: Womens Ministry, Christian Education, Ministerial Staff, Women Bible Study, Cell Group Leader.

Ministerial Staff: 

Rev. Ebonie Walker

Rev. Ebonie Walker is on the Ministerial Staff as an Itinerant Elder. She supports the Pastor and St. John through prayer, and teaches and preaches when needed. Rev. Ebonie is also the spiritual advisor of the Young Adult Ministry (YAM).   

Ministerial Staff: 

Evangelist Willie Carr

Evan. Willie Carr is an active member of the ministerial team. She was first assigned her Evangelist's license by the 3rd Episcopal District of the AME Church leadership in 2009. Included in her duties for service are providing leadership as a class leader ( Season Saints - for membership  65+ y.o.), and other special projects as assigned. Each month, she holds a monthly prayer meeting (National Church Residences - Dublin) and a weekly noon day prayer conference call (Thursdays - 641-715-3200; ext.-709159 ). She is a member of the Juanita Jones Missionary Society with St. John AME Church, and a member of the Women in Ministry organization at the district conference level; as well, with the state of Ohio, she holds a Minister's License (est.2014) and a Notary License (est. 1995).

Evangelist Sunny Adams

Sunny Adams is currently a certified evangelist in the Third District of the AME Church. He is a member and Steward of St. John AME Church. He is father of two sons grandfather of four. Sunny has recently retired from the State of Ohio Department of Taxation and is now able to devote more time to Church, family, and friends. 

Chairman Pro-Tem: Trustees

Chief William Fields, Jr

Chairman Pro Tem has the responsibility to lead the Trustee Board, which is responsible for all the church property.  This includes management, maintenance, development, and use of property under the direction of the Church's Official Board for the support of the programs approved by the congregation.  The Trustees are stewards of the property that has been entrusted to their care. The Chairman Pro Tem approves all invoice to be paid, approves all work to be completed on all properties, manages all rental properties, manages the custodian, manages bus care and usage, responsible for the insurance on all church property and liability insurance for all leaders. 

Chairman Pro Tem works very close with the Chairman, which is the Pastor.   

Church Treasurer &

Steward Pro-Tem: 

Sally Buxton

Sally Buxton has been a member of St. John AME Church for over 13 years. She is member of the Women's Missionary Society, the Stewardesses, the Finance Committee, the Steward Board and, as Co-Chair of the Foreign Missions Ministry, leads youth work teams each year on mission trips to Haiti. In the capacity of Church Treasurer she performs weekly and monthly reconciliation of all church bank accounts, monitors and reports on-line giving, responsible for approval and payment of all church accounts payable, and processes church payroll.

Sally firmly believes that our purpose while on this earth is to simply help others.

Angela Brown

Church Secretary & Administrative Assistant to Pastor promotes organization, communication and consistency in functions and operations within the church. 

 

Funerals … assists with funeral service arrangements, brochures, programs, electronic media and ensures building is prepared for homegoing event.

Church Administrator:

Charlowe Tyree

Tyree is a seasoned IT Professional with over 35 years of experience specializing in project & program management. She has worked for major 500 Fortune companies like Ernst & Young, McDonald’s corporation, Kraft Foods, Allstate, Novartis Pharmaceuticals and Avery Dennison.  Ms. Tyree was also an active member of Trinity United Church of Christ (TUCC) of Chicago, IL for 15 years where she was an active disciple volunteering and working in multiple capacities through-out the church.


Ms. Tyree serves at St. John as the Church Administrator responsible for improving communications between the congregation and leadership as well as identifying and improving church processes and practices.  She also works on special projects as defined by the Pastor and the church.  In addition, she worked to design and implement a new website and a new Church Management System (CMS) for St. John.  Ms. Tyree is also responsible for maintaining the church calendar and also serves as a member of the Women's Missionary Society (WMS), Women's Bible Study, the Steward Board and the Stewardship Cell Group,

Minister of Music

John Flowers, III

John W. Flowers III (aka “Binky”), is currently the Minister of Music for St. John AME Church, Worthington, Ohio. John W. Flowers a native of Pittsburgh, PA., also affectionately known as “the man with a thousand fingers”, dubbed this name by fellow musicians for good reasons. He has been Minister of Music for several churches for over 30 years.

John’s music ministry began at an early age, and his dedication to his calling from God has taken him across the United States, Canada, the Bahamas, and other countries performing and conducting music workshops. He has been a guest musician accompanying National recording artists such as Vicki Winans, Hezekiah Walker, Richard Smallwood, The Pace Sisters, Dr. Bobby Jones, and numerous others. Additionally, John has performed with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, the New York Symphony Orchestra, the Gospel Music Workshop of America, Vonn Thomas and Friends Love Choir and Tetrec Community Choir.


John is the recipient of numerous music honors and recognition because of his anointed artistic skills. He has gained admiration, appreciation, respect, and affection from all those he graces with his sounds of anointed music and humble spirit. John W. Flowers III, God-given talent, humble spirit, and tenacity all mingled together has made him the well-known Minister of Music that he is today.

John is married to Pam Flowers; they have five adult children and six grandchildren. In addition to being the Minister of Music for St. John AME Church, John is retired from General Motors, works as a contractor for the Yamaha Music Corporation, Sonic Automotive, and plays the organ for Ephesus Seventh Day Adventist.


If you ask John what his greatest accomplishment is, he will say “his desire to be a man that seeks after the heart of God, live a life of integrity, and serve with the passion and compassion of Christ”.
