JUNETEENTH COMMEMORATION
Come out and join St John AME Church for a remembrance of Juneteenth. The date all slaves became aware of their freedom across the country including Texas.

We are so excited to have the first 2021 Juneteenth Commemoration in
Worthington. COVID Restrictions will be followed.
June 19th 2021-4.00 p.m. to 8.00p.m.
Our program will include:
1) A reenactment of the U S Colored Soldiers and the reading of The
Emancipation Proclamation. (Anthony Gibbs, founder and Creative director of Black Historic Impressions, an organization dedicated to the remembrance, appreciation and exhibition of African American contributions throughout history.
2) Lyn Ford an American Storyteller, teaching artist, author, and the first
storyteller in Ohio, to be nominated for The Governor’s Award
3) Craft table (Make it/ Take it)
4) Urban Strings Columbus Ensemble (providing music by African American composers and arrangers in celebration of African American Music Appreciation Month)
5)Vendors and Food Trucks
6)Gospel Sing-Along (St John Praise Team)
7) Door prizes
Juneteenth is a cultural event commemorating the last vestige of slavery in 1865 in Texas, freeing all slaves even though the Emancipation Proclamation was signed in 1863.
